A photo walk at the Olympic complex of Athens
DUM SPIRO SPERO
Named for Spiros Louis, the first modern-day Olympic marathon gold medallist, who won in the 1896 Athens Summer Olympics, the massive Olympic Athletic Centre of Athens Spiros Louis also known as OACA, is a sports facilities complex situated in the northern part of Athens.

WISH WE WERE THERE
The Olympic Athletic Center of Athens has hosted countless significant sprorts events, such as:
the UEFA Champions League Final in 1983, 1994 and 2007,
the Mediterranean Games in 1991,
the World Championship in Athletics in 1997
and of course
the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics and Paralympics.
Under the leadership of renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, the entire complex was renovated and reconstructed for the games, while some of its initial facilities were constructed in 1982 and were still under construction until 1994.
Some of the most significant musical performances in Athens' history have also taken place in the Olympic Stadium!
In 2010, 82,662 spectators witnessed the band U2 perform live.
More than 160,000 people attended the two-day sold-out performance of Greek singer George Dalaras at the Stadium. It is acclaimed as the biggest music festival in Greece's history.
Legendary artists like AC/DC, Iron Maiden, and The Rolling Stones (I was actually there!) have also performed in OACA.

“Dear fortune has given me the great satisfaction of inaugurating this glorious stadium, which I myself inaugurated 2.5 years ago.”
