My Gear

Below is most of the gear I use to shoot my projects. The links are affiliate ones, meaning it will cost you nothing to use them, but if you do, I will get a small percentage when you buy something from these stores.

If you do, thank you very much.

Canon EOS R

I was never the guy who wanted the bestest and latest of the gear; not even with my Macs, nor with my iPhones and definitely not with my cameras . Nevertheless, when the EOS R came out, I knew that this would be my switch to a world without mirrors. The transition was smooth and for real world needs, this makes me wonders.

I mean, come on; you got to love technology.

GoPro HERO9 Black

A while ago I tried to shoot a video with my old EOS 80D and the footage got straight to the bin.

So, the only way around I thought it was to sell my 80D and buy the Hero 9. And I did buy a brand new one. Now, have in mind it was my first ever action cam.

I was shocked (and still am).

The stabilization that comes out of this tiny body is just pure magic. Paired with the Media Mod is the perfect combination.

DJI Mini 2

I bought the mini 2 when it came out. I have been waiting for a long time before I buy my drone; I mean really long time: my two drone pilot diplomas were in my hand almost a year before Mini 2 came out.

And yes, it was worth the waiting big time.

Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L

This old 17-40mm has been my first of my own “holy trinity” of L lenses. It is very lightweight, really sharp and when I bought it as a second hand it was a bargain.

Nowadays is a bit too old for my EOS R, so maybe it is time to move on to the Canon 16-35mm f/4L IS USM.

Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L

  • 24-70mm.

  • L series.

  • 630g.

  • IS.

  • Pseudo-macro capabilities.

  • USM.

  • Inexpensive.

All the boxes are checked with this precious piece of gear.

Amazon: Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L

Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L

Whenever someone asks me about my one lens I never go out without, I almost certainly will come here over and over again.

Unquestionable, my favourite glass.

Amazon: Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L

Canon EF 85mm f/1.8

This is the one and only prime lens I own. It is feather-weighted, sharper than I will ever need, with a nice, creamy bokeh, not expensive at all and great for portraits.

Amazon: Canon EF 85mm f/1.8

Lowepro ProTactic 450 AW II

The time I bought this bag was the most thorough research I ever did online for something.

It is such a great product, that I almost never use my old Think Tank these days.

Maybe I have to write a blog post about this bag. It is one of the best purchases a photographer can make.

To be honest, I cannot imagine what better option for hiking with all of your gear inside*, extra clothes and more room to spare. Unbeatable.

*Almost all of the products in this page and many many extra batteries, filters, accessories of any kind.

Manfrotto MKBFRA4-BH

You should know by now that I hate heavy weighted gear and my tripod could not be the exception to this.

Some might wonder how can I use it under bad weather, being so light weighted. The truth is, I rarely have been in such bad weather that my tripod failed me. This is the 3rd Manfrotto tripod I ever owned and is the kind of gear that will stay with you for many many years.

I would like it to be somewhat taller, just because I am quite tall myself, but rather than that it is a precious part of my equipment.

Godox Flash V860IIC

This flash is what I have been missing too many years now and I didn’t know it.

Two words: rechargeable battery!

I am thinking of buying one or two more. Powerfull enough and a battery that never drains. I forget to charge it.

Paired with a holder type S kit, you may even convert it to your small studio flash. Fantastic, portable solution.

Amazon: Godox Flash V860IIC

Think Tank Retrospective 30 V2.0

One of my first bags and still in use today. Of course it has seen better days, since the ProTactic replace it, but nevertheless, when I am out for a walk in the city with one or two lenses and don’t need all the extra kit, then it might come out of the closet.

Great quality, but not ideal for many pieces of gear.

Rode VideoMicro

This little guy is the cheapest and easiest way to improve your audio whenever you shoot video. Very good solution for vlogs etc., but keep in mind that works very well only when in front of you.

Stays always in my bag.

iMac 21.5inch late 2015 4K

My old, trusty iMac. The first thing I did back in the days, was to replace the internal hard drive with another one, but SSD this time. The speed improvement was radical. Maybe I should have bought it with extra RAM as well.

Of course, nowadays it is a bit too slow for my needs, so I guess I will be soon on the Apple market once again.

iMac 24inch M1, 2021

And when on the Apple market, what is best than the brand new M1 iMac? The difference in almost everything is colossal. It is just unbelievable the giant speed that technology moves forward these days.

The only downside is that you have to buy some extras for your iMac to be fully operational, due to lack of many ports.

Other than that, this is a great upgrade for my workflow. Love it.

Creative Cloud Apps

I am not so sure this one can live under the “Gear” section, but it definitely belongs under the “Necessities”.

When Adobe announced the big switch to the subscription plans, I was a bit angry, as most of the creators. The thing is, that today I cannot imagine any other way.

For just a small amount of money, I have all the latest updates exactly at the release times, I got a main dashboard for everything I might need (libraries, fonts, templates, brushes, you name it) and of course I can have immediate access to great Adobe support.

Also, I may skip one month of subscription if I want and come back at any time.

Not to mention that the company really helped a lot of people during the pandemic with great offers.

Must have/can’t live without.
