Why I left YouTube
Well, this is not a clickbait title. I actually left YouTube, but I didn't mean to. Sounds weird? Let me explain.
The first vlog was uploaded to my YouTube channel in early 2022. The COVID-19 quarantine was a pretty tough time, so making videos in the wild was a logical step. The idea was to create simple vlogs about photography.
I soon discovered that I really enjoyed the process. I was learning new things about video, animation, editing, graphics, subtitles and photography; a whole new world! I couldn't wait to go out, take pictures and then go back to my Mac to create the next video.
The learning curve was huge, I have to tell you. It took me over a week for each of my first few videos (although it doesn't show from the poor production).
After a while, I made a video for product photography, another for my babies (that's what I call my cameras) and even a few shorts.
Unfortunately, in early 2023, we had a health emergency in our family and this lasted for more than a year. It was the most difficult year because of this, causing our family to incur huge expenses and loss of time and happiness.
Thankfully now, in 2024, things are improving and we are slowly returning to normalcy; battered but alive.
To be honest, I really miss making videos for YouTube, since I was at a point where I was happy about the results (and secretly proud of some of them) and had even managed to be consistent with my posts every Friday.
I hope to return to YouTube one day, but in order to do that, I need to have content ready to keep up with my schedule. The truth is that I have hours of videos waiting for me to edit, so maybe it won't be long before I upload the next video, who knows?
