Christening / Danae

A SWEET LITTLE GIRL WITH INCREDIBLE EXPRESSIONS

One of the baptisms I have photographed was that of sweet Danae, with her amazing grimaces.

It was held in a beautiful church and all the people were exceptional and lovely, except for one.

GREAT COMPANY

Danae is a sweet child, as are her parents and her sister. All the guests were basically one big group, relaxed and in good spirits.

The surroundings helped a lot in getting beautiful photos and everything was going well until the moment of the baby's actual christening.

TRY TO KEEP THE FAITH

The priest, either out of overzealousness or lack of empathy, treated the poor little girl so clumsily that her guttural crying still echoes in my ears.

There was some tension, of course, but fortunately without further spoiling the happy mood.

LITTLE TORTURE

Let me make a note here: aside from my usual feelings about wedding photography, I have to admit that there is something I especially dislike during baptism.

All that time-consuming mess of chanting, candles, smoke and dipping into the baptismal font for a toddler who is usually only a few months old, more often than not ends up in a distressed baby who is heartbreaking to watch. Especially the dunking in the baptismal font can be very brutal and can result in a near drowning of the baby if the priest is not careful. Fortunately this does not always happen, but it does happen relatively often.

Nothing goes to waste on the journey of life. Both good and bad experiences shape your mind and heart for what is to come.

LUCKY LITTLE GIRL

That was the case here, with little Danae, who suffered for a while, as you can see in the pictures.

As she grows up, thankfully she will have nice pictures to look at and won't even remember that unpleasant swim break.

After all, she has nice people around her.
