Beauty around us / Ireland-Dublin
Once upon a time I was working as a bartender and it was my honour to be picked amongst many of my colleagues all over the country for an educational trip in the land of Jameson.
We’re back in 2011, with the start of the crisis hitting hard for the first time.
These trips were common tactic for companies in the business.
They had everything planned around learning some stuff for the product (famous Jameson in this occasion), but to be honest, it was all about having a 3-7 days ongoing party.
Bartenders were having fun, plenty of alcohol to drink, free time, you name it; actually it was paid vacations on the best hotels.
In return we had deep in our minds/subconscious that we had to drive their sales. A Win-Win situation.
Of course nowadays trips like these are just stories from the past.
In one of these stories, I had a great time (mainly) in Dublin, drinking much of free Jamesons and paid Guinesses, fabulous parties and drunken friends,
but not really much time to spend on photography.
The only gear I had with me was my trusted Canon EOS 5 (the film version of course) with a Sigma 28-105mm f/2.8-4 Aspherical IF and half a dozen Fuji Velvia.
On a side note, I would like to point out how much I miss the Velvia. There have been some occasions that I thought of going out with a film camera and give it a try.
Maybe I will, who knows.
Because of the alcohol and the parties and the educational stuff, I just had some spare hours between the schedule, so I didn’t spent the time I really wanted in photography, but that’s ok. Another excuse for my next travel plans.
