Archive - Live at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus

For those who know me, it is not a secret that I am a Pink Floyd fan and one of my biggest regrets is that I never saw them performing live.

Perhaps one of the bands that I consider their "kids" and with a sound that I really like in general, is Archive.

So, obviously, it was great honour for me when I was invited by the band to photograph them for their emblematic live at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus (also known as Herodion).

The band has come to our country many times for a gig and one of them was recorded and released as a great dvd.

Behind the scenes, the band is essentially like a big, beloved family.

This particular show was part of the 25th anniversary of the band’s existence.

The set lasted over 2 hours and was one of the most fantastic experiences for anyone who was lucky to be there.

Their spots up on the stage was something symmetrically beautiful; The “conductors” Darius Keeler and Danny Griffiths on the right and left side, the experienced Steve "Smiley" Barnard on drums, Mickey Hurcombe on guitar and Jonathan Noyce on bass, while Pollard Berrier, Dave Pen, Maria Q and Holly Martin alternated on stage.

Part of the perfect night was the full moon and the Acropolis illuminated just right above us.

Their tracks mark a beautiful nostalgia for all of us who hear them from their first steps.

Overall, the live was truly fantastic and even better than one might expect, as the Herodion is not exactly the place intertwined with such shows.

The setlist included everything: radio hits, progressive rock and trip hop sounds.

Of course, the last track of the show was “Again”, which in Greece had become a huge success when it was released.

Special mention should be made of the very impressive light show on stage, which somewhat magically matched the ancient space.

Overall, I would say that the “25” live show at the Herodion itself was a unique experience, let alone that I was the band’s photographer.

God, I love this job.

THE FACT THAT WE WILL PERFORM IN HERODION, I CONSIDER IT A PRIVILEGE AND AN ACHIEVEMENT | DARIUS KEELER
