Beauty around us / Serifos
LIVING WITH FIRES
A few days ago a large part of the low vegetation of the beautiful island of Serifos burned almost completely.
I hope that the burnt land will quickly come to life and the people whose properties were destroyed will soon get back on their feet.
BROTHER-IN-LAW
A few years ago, I visited this beautiful place, together with my wife's brother and combined a relaxing holiday with short photographic excursions.
The island is small and lovely, the people are welcoming and the food is simple and delicious, as is typical in my country (thankfully).
WUTHERING ISLAND
Needless to say, this is the center of the Aegean sea, so the wind is king here. You get used to it and you will easily learn how to spot the beach that is protected from it every day. Wind is a natural element and we have to respect that.
A SMALL BEAUTIFUL ISLAND IN THE MIDDLE OF AEGEAN SEA
The campsite is one of the most amazing I have stayed in, in terms of infrastructure, cleanliness and service, in front of a beautiful beach (Livadakia), very close to the port.
The Chora is enchanting, with beautiful little churches and houses, built next to each other, with small cobbled streets separating them, lovely shops, nice bars to have a drink, small colourful squares and the view of the endless blue of the Aegean Sea and Sifnos in the distance.
BEACHES FOR EVERY TASTE
The beaches of the island are heavenly: Psili Ammos, Agios Sostis, Agios Ioannis, Lia, Karavi, Kalo Ampeli, Ganema, Karavas, Sikamia, Platis Gialos, are just some of the beaches you can visit for your dives. There are, of course, many more, which you can enjoy easily by boat.
HIKES AND MINES
The old bauxite mines at Megalo Livadi is an impressive attraction too, with a great sunset, definitely worth a visit.
Still, I mustn't forget to mention the very beautiful routes that the island has to offer, whether it's a paved road or a hiking trail. Tour the island and you will be rewarded with many, special corners and unlimited views of the Aegean Sea or the interior of the island.
I hope the wind will take you to this special island at least once.
